Mind Your Own Womb

A good friend shared this link with me: Mind Your Own Womb

This post hit really close to home.  As most of you know, I have recently changed jobs and moved across the Wasatch Front.  I hate that people make motherhood and kids a part of everyday conversation when they are first meeting you. I know that people are just trying to get to know me, but it is an extremely loaded question and quite frankly, none of their God Damn business!

The question that I have been asked a lot is: "Is it hard to work in Labor and Delivery when you don't or can't have kids?"  This question really pisses me off.  First, do you not think that this is something I considered myself before I accepted the position and moved my family half way across the state.  Second, it is completely ignorant of you to think that I am jealous of every patient who walks through those doors and has a baby.  Third, if you knew me at all, (obviously you don't if you have asked me this question), then you would know that this isn't even an issue.  I love my job and that is completely independent of my infertility issues and is never an issue.

I would recommend going to this link and thinking twice before making a totally ignorant comment.  You never know what people are going through in life.  Just because I do not have human children does not mean that I am not a mother.  I am a mother to my fur babies.  I am a mother figure to my nieces and nephews.  I am also a mother figure to other people's children.  A mother isn't just someone who has children.  A mother is a role model.

Rant over...drop the mic!

I have 2 kids!

Lots of things have happened since I posted last.  I got a new job, we sold our house, bought a new house, relocated our family to Utah County, and I graduated with my BSN.  Not stressful at all.  It has been quite an adjustment.  I miss Farmington and Davis County, but I am still getting used to our new surroundings.  I absolutely love, love, love my new job.  I look forward to going to work now, instead of dreading it.  I never thought that I would love Labor and Delivery as much as I do.

The hard part about moving and meeting new people is the questions people ask, like "how many kids do you have?"  I know it is an innocent question, but I hate that it is something that defines you and that it is part of regular conversation.  I have just decided that I am going to start saying, I have 2 kids; one is 5 and the other is 11 months.  Our dogs are just as much a part of our family as other people's kids are.

New Year's Resolution

I am usually not one for New Year's resolutions or I jump on the gym bandwagon for a couple weeks like the rest of the world. This year is going to be different. I really want to focus on changing my attitude and my perspective so I am sticking with the lemonade theme here. I am going to write down something positive that happened or something that I accomplished for each day of the year. When I am having a bad day, feeling down, and at the end of the year I can look back at all I have accomplished and all of the good things that have happened this year.
I found this really cool pitcher and a daily "Keep Calm and Carry On" calendar. I can start my day off with an inspirational quote and end it by writing on the back of each paper and placing it in the jar. 3 days down, 362 to go!

Happy New Year everyone!  I have decided that 2016 is going to be my year!  I am going to be selfish and work on myself and my family. I started reading this book called F**k It: The Ultimate Spiritual Way by John C. Parkin.  It is about letting go of the little things that don't matter and the freedom that you feel when you let go of those worries. As part of that my New Year's Resolution is to write down something that I accomplished or something good that happened for each day of the year. So here is to  F**king the stuff that doesn't matter!  2016 I am going to make you my Bitch!!!

Here is a link to the book on Amazon if you are interested: http://www.amazon.com/F-k-Ultimate-Spiritual-Way/dp/1401945996/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1451781612&sr=8-1&keywords=fk+it
